1. Introduction
Soundyard.eu processes personal data in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and Dutch privacy legislation. We take the protection of your privacy seriously and will treat your personal information confidentially.
This privacy policy applies to all users of Soundyard.eu, including visitors, free users, subscribers, artists and uploaders.
2. Data Collected
2.1 Account Data
Upon registration we collect: name (artist name or personal name), email address, password (stored encrypted), profile photo (optional), bio and social media links (optional), and country/region.
2.2 Uploads and Content
Uploaded tracks, metadata (title, genre, BPM, etc.), artwork and descriptions, stems, samples, extra content, and copyright status and ownership.
2.3 Listening Behavior and Interactions
Streams, likes, reposts, playlist additions, download history (for subscribers), search history, and trending score contributions.
2.4 Subscriptions and Payments
Subscription type and status, payment history, billing information (processed via external payment providers), and transaction logs for downloads and extra content sales.
Note: Soundyard does not store complete credit card details. Payments are processed via PCI-DSS certified providers (Stripe, Mollie).
3. Purposes of Data Processing
3.1 Platform Functionality
Account creation and management, authentication and security, personalization of feed and recommendations, display of uploads and profiles.
3.2 Payments and Subscriptions
Processing subscription payments, enabling downloads for subscribers, artist payout calculations (65/35 and 88/12 splits), billing and administration.
3.3 Service Improvement
Analytics and usage statistics, A/B testing of new features, bug tracking and performance optimization, trending score calculations.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data based on: contractual necessity (account, subscription, uploads), legitimate interest (analytics, security, fraud prevention), consent (marketing communication, cookies), and legal obligation (tax administration, court orders).
5. Sharing of Data
We share data with: payment providers (Stripe, Mollie), cloud & hosting (AWS, Google Cloud), analytics (anonymized), email services (SendGrid, Mailgun), copyright detection (ACRCloud API), and authorities upon court order.
6. Retention Period
- Active accounts: As long as account is active
- Closed accounts: 30 days, then complete deletion
- Transaction data: 7 years (tax legislation)
- Copyright notifications: 6 months after closure
- Analytics (anonymized): Unlimited
- Support tickets: 2 years after closure
- Backups: Maximum 90 days
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
You have the right to: access, correction, deletion ("Right to be Forgotten"), restriction, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.
8. Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures: HTTPS/TLS encryption, passwords are hashed, two-factor authentication (2FA) available, regular security audits, firewalls and intrusion detection, encrypted backups.
9. Minors
Soundyard is intended for users 16 years and older. Children under 16 may not create an account.
